Q. Just installed my NetGear STM.
What is the default IP address?

STM 600, to power up and completed its
boot cycle. You will notice its LEDs
change from orange to green.
default is
a secure
https

Default username is admin with the
default password being password.
Q. Why is the NetGear STM Test LED
blinking?
A. Have you correctly registered
the NetGear appliance? It could
indicate an expire support licence.
STM 150, STM 300, STM 600 come with
various options, some just with hardware,
others with web and email one year or three
years licence subscription and hardware
support bundles. Please contact us for
more information.
Q. Just installed my NetGear STM. Now our web pages are
blocked?
A. Internet Site Filtering - there
are certain web site categories blocked by default.
Please review the selected (kicked)
Categories List.
You may wish to allow a specific web
address, whilst still retaining a matching
blocked web site category.
White list entries are therefore used to
allow such exclusions and allow users to
access that web site.
We have found the default list quite
reasonable for business use.
Q. Why is my business web site not
accessible after I installed my Netgear STM appliance?
A. Some web sites may be as yet be
unclassified or it may fall under a category
which has been selected to be blocked.
Your end user should be prompted with a
NetGear web page (instead of the
targeted web site which is blocked). You
will notice the Netgear Prosecure logos and
more information on why such a page is being
prohibited.
The end user may be offered a link to submit
that blocked web address for (re) classification
or it should advise that end user that it has been
blocked.
Q. We have noticed new
information when presented with a blocked
page message.
A. Units we deploy, after
consultation, have had a customised page
inserted below the inbuilt NetGear STM
appliance's automatically generated page.
After consultation with several computer
network administrators and selected end
users, they have asked for such support
information to be displayed below the
default NetGear appliances displayed page.
Such customisations have been put into
place, where we centrally
manage that sites IT services or where their own
internal help desk
have requested as such.
Q. Customised users messages for NetGear STM?
What are some examples that you setup for
end users?
We have added some or all of these items:
- end user local helpdesk support
contact details
This better informs your end users
and presents them with either a local help
desk (or our our centrally managed support
centre) contact details and not contact
NetGear direct.
- a link to your company's computer IT
policy
This reminds users of correct usage
policies and lessen the burden of
unnecessary requests to the help desk,
typically for personal and not work relevant
internet sites.
Such are examples were Computer
Services & Technologies tries to integrate
the Netgear STM appliances to your
sites specific needs.
